Troubleshooting

Having issues with PaxTime? Find solutions to common problems below.

I can't find my PaxTime device

Possible causes:

  • Your device is not on the same Wi-Fi network
  • The IP address has changed
  • PaxTime is not connected to Wi-Fi

Solutions:

  1. Check your router's connected devices list for "PaxTime"
  2. Make sure your phone/computer is on the same Wi-Fi network
  3. Power-cycle the plug (unplug for 10 seconds, then plug back in)
  4. If still not found, perform a Wi-Fi reset (4 button presses)

My unlock code isn't working

Possible causes:

  • Device time is out of sync
  • Your phone's time is incorrect
  • Code has expired (they change every 30 seconds)

Solutions:

  1. Make sure your phone's time is set to automatic
  2. Reconnect PaxTime to Wi-Fi to sync its clock
  3. Wait for a new code and try again immediately when it appears
  4. If the problem persists, check for a time warning on the PaxTime interface

Schedule isn't being enforced

Possible causes:

  • Device is not in Timed mode
  • Calibration has not been completed
  • Extra time was added

Solutions:

  1. Check that the mode is set to "Timed" (not "On" or "Off")
  2. Run calibration if you haven't already
  3. Check if extra time was added today — it resets at midnight

TV detection seems wrong

Possible causes:

  • Calibration was done incorrectly
  • Other devices are affecting power readings
  • TV power consumption has changed

Solutions:

  1. Re-run calibration
  2. Make sure the TV is fully off during standby measurement and fully on during active measurement
  3. If you have a soundbar or other devices on the same outlet, include them in calibration

IP address keeps changing

Cause: Your router assigns dynamic IP addresses (DHCP).

Solution:

  1. Log into your router's admin panel
  2. Find the DHCP reservation or static IP settings
  3. Create a reservation for PaxTime so it always gets the same IP
  4. Update your bookmark with the new permanent IP

Wi-Fi won't connect

Possible causes:

  • Network is 5 GHz only (PaxTime requires 2.4 GHz)
  • Incorrect password
  • Special characters in network name

Solutions:

  1. Make sure you're selecting a 2.4 GHz network
  2. Double-check your Wi-Fi password
  3. Try a network with a simpler name (letters and numbers only)
  4. Move PaxTime closer to your router during setup
